The New Zealand Police are Hiring!

August 24, 2009 by genesisforbes

Like our friends at the Western Australia Police, the NZ Police will be hiring Asians to boast the cultural diversity of their ranks.

Genesis Forbes will be helping them in their recruitment from Singapore starting next year, and interested applicants can contact us now to find out how you can get a law enforcement job in New Zealand and start a new life there as well!

About our Enrolment Fee

August 21, 2009 by genesisforbes

We have been asked a lot of times: why is it that applicants (be it for migration, job-searching or studying overseas) need to pay us an enrolment fee?

First of all, the enrolment fee collected is primarily to compensate the time and effort spent into organising the information found on applicants’ CVs.  What do we mean?

We are sure you would agree that travelling to a different country to stay, look for a job or to study is a pretty major decision.  For the people in ANOTHER country, be it Australia , Canada or even Singapore, to decide whether to let you in or not is also a pretty major decision.

Immigration authorities demand a very high level of information about an applicant who wishes to enter the country.  We’re not talking about the fact that you need to fill-in your grandfather’s name (in original script!) on some of the application forms – we’re referring to them wanting to know exactly who you are and what you do, and that means they require very, very specific information.

The same goes for employers – it takes alot of trouble and administrative paperwork for them to hire someone from overseas – and they want to make sure you really, really, know how to get the job done.

As you may expect, the information you provide in a normal CV will not be sufficient for the employers and immigration department.  This is the part where we help you extract and organise the information that they need about you so that your application can go as smoothly as possible.

To addition, Genesis Forbes also provides 2 value add services for you: a mock interview session and a video resume.

If you are going to move overseas, very soon you will be needing to find a job.  Like mentioned previously, hiring someone from overseas is a big issue for employers and they want to know exactly who you are (we don’t need to go into details on why an interview is important) Genesis Forbes will prepare you for a potential interview based on what we understand of the employers’ requirements.

Another value-adding service we provide is helping you shoot a video resume of yourself.  Video resumes tell an employer a lot more about you than a normal run of the mill CV does, and leaves a deeper impression as well.  In addition, a video resume brings your personality, communication skills and commitment to getting the job across to the employer in a way a normal CV can’t.

At Genesis Forbes we prepare you not only to move overseas but also try to secure your employment so that you can be settled down in your new ‘home’

Moving overseas is a big decision, but once you have decided, there is work to be done.  Sign up with us today by visiting our website!!

Preparing for an Interview

August 18, 2009 by genesisforbes

We do not need to tell you how important an interview is in getting a job – which may mean the difference between being able to start a new life – or not.

Despite what most interviewers like to say, “We just want to chat with you, just to see what your personaility is like.”  Don’t believe them too much.  Sure, they want to chat, and the reason they want to chat is…

… THEY WANT TO HIRE YOU.

Think about it.  If an employer has totally no interest in you, why even bother for an interview, especially during times like this?  What your job as a job-seeker is, in this case, to give the interviewer more and more reasons to want to hire you.  And this needs preparation.

Generally speaking, employers hire someone to help them DO SOMETHING for the company.  It is up to you to tell them what you can do – employers are open-minded that way – but it is important that what you do benefits  the company.

Even if you tell the employer that you are Superman and can fly faster than a speeding bullet, the employer will not be interested because he doesn’t need people who can fly – he needs people who know how to use a drill, use a computer… you get my drift.

(then again, if you are REALLY Superman and can fly and punch through walls, you might want to consider WAPOL) ; )

At Genesis Forbes, we have seen a few interviews where candidates didn’t get this concept – they didn’t give the interviewer enough reasons to go on and hire them because they mistakenly think that an interview is about themselves – it is, actually, but it’s more of WHAT THEY CAN DO for the employer.

So, go through your CV, see what are your accomplishments you have acheived over the course of your career, what qualities you process that will be attractive to an employer.

If you won Safety awards – it shows you are a person who is mature enough to observe the safety of yourself and others – and this is a quality employers value a lot.  If you stay in the office to finish a project on time, it shows you are commited.  If you have joined a school sports team – that’s experience of working in a team!  It may be a bit awkward, but in everything you have accomplished, there is something that demostrates a strength you have, and you have to find it and tell the interviewer during the interview.

At Genesis Forbes, we help you conduct mock interview sessions to prepare you more adequately for the actual interviews.  With our experience, we can aslo share with you what qualities are employers most attracted by so you know how to present yourself better.

Seminar between Nepal Students and KTP

August 17, 2009 by genesisforbes

In early September 2009 (that is less than 2 weeks away!) Genesis Forbes will be holding a live video conference between students in Nepal and students currently studying in the Paramount College of Technology in Malaysia. (KTP)

Studying in KTP is possibly one of the best kept secrets of overseas education for Asian students. While most students think of furthering their education in western countries like Australia or the United States or Canada, studying in Malaysia might not seem like an obvious, nor attractive choice.

However, studying in Malaysia has many benefits.

1. There is no English requirement, so no more struggling with IELTS before you can even be considered for a place.

2. Unlike Australia, which require a student to have a lot of money in the bank to show that they can afford the school fees, Malaysia does not have this requirement. The school fees for studying in Malaysia are significantly lower than Australia also. It means a very much lighter load on your families finances.

3. Free accomodation for the entire duration of study!

4. Paramount College of Technology is affliated with Charles Darwin University in Australia. So even if your dream is truly to study in Australia, by going to Paramount College of Technology FIRST, you get to gain a much easier access* to a renowed Australian university after you graduate.

*You are still subject to the IELTS, financial proof, and other necessary requirements of studying in Australia

So, why not consider it? If you are interested in finding a suitable overseas education, feel free to contact us at

study@genesisforbes.com

At the same time, please keep an eye on our page, for we’ll be bringing you new updates about studying oppotuntities!
